Stories from the past.

Sometimes my friends (who must love me or something) ask me to write stories we've shared. So Amelia, this one's for you. I must add when Amelia and I go out to dinner the main course is laughter.
My grandmother who I called Nanny, was a character, and had a great sense of humour. The last year of her life she was living in a nursing home, at age 90 she had her first physical, no one had physicals in her day. So Mum was with her, and told me this story. the doctor was giving Nanny a rectal exam. In order to keep her relaxed he kept talking to her. He asked what she thought of the Royal family? Did she think the Queen was doing a good job? and so on. Nanny got tired of it and said, "If you're looking for the crown jools they're not up there!"
Mum was so embarrassed I just think it's a priceless, Nanny story. I found a picture of Nanny. It was the group photo from my wedding in 1955. It looks funny everyone in coats, not me of course, I must have been freezing. Nanny is in black and 3rd from right, front row.

This is a memory check for my children. When we lived in MD we went to dinner at a nice restaurant in Annapolis, I think it was Mother's day. I had shown the children how to make music with wine glasses, putting a little water in them, and running a wet finger tip around the rim. The restaurant was crowded, the kids decided to demonstrate their talent, and soon the four of them were making this ear piercing noise. People must have complained and the manager came out and attempted to fix the juke box. Thankfully I stopped them before anyone found out the culprits.
