The first notice of the Annual picnic and the excitement begins - the save the date card.
.
Then we get the official invitation......
I really look forward to this event. Alan and Jerry's mountain home is so beautiful, and most of all I get to be a part of a huge family gathering. Most of my family are gone and my few remaining relatives are in England. It boggles my mind to see dozens of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents all in one place at one time, and of course the grandchildren. It's better now my children are grown and we have grandchildren.
It's hard for me to remember all the names from one year to the next, so if I remembered someone's name and they were nearby, I'd give them a shout out to make sure I had the name right.
The first picture I took was of the donkeys. I got a ride to Fancy Gap but I was going to have to find a ride home, I said if nothing else I can ride down the mountain on one of the donkey. Thank goodness, Roy and Phyllis were driving Amelia's car, because Amelia was going on to another event after the picnic. I bet the donkey's are grateful too.
Kimberlin is one of the grand babies, last year she was not even walking now here she is with her Momma, growing up so fast.
Al and Yvonne were here from Florida, Al had taken Yvonne on a hot air balloon trip for her birthday. Sadly they hit tension wires on the way down, and Al's hand was badly burned. Remember on Spring Break my daughter Cher and I did a balloon flight, the one thing I was nervous about was tension wires? We were lucky we didn't hit them.
The following are some of the pictures of the Main house and the views.

Amelia and I were looking at something? we see the tip of Claire's head, and with her back to us Phyllis who looks like she's running to hug Alan?
The blue grass band. They also played beach music. I wanted to take a video, well I hadn't done that since I was on Spring Break, so I sat at the picnic table and figured out how to do it. I took off across the field, camera swinging from the wrist strap. I now have a 3 minute video of my legs trekking across the grass to the band stand. Hey! at least I can hear the music. : )
Roy Watts Chauffeur extrordinaire. He saved my life and possibly one of the donkeys. : )
Jessica with a tiny kitten, she had been watching a cat crossing the road, eat some chicken and carry some back home? She went to see what he was up to, he was taking food to his TWO wives and his babies. Now that's a good cat, one little kitten was grey I so wanted to take him home. I think maybe the two Momma cats let him know who was in charge.
Karen amused and rascally Wayne about to pour some Mountain Dew on to Howard's hair. Not sure what that gesture is that Charles is making. Amelia's proud of me I have her boys' names down pat. : )
This picture was taken at the end of the day, boy do I look tired. I'm not sure of the lady on top left's name, I think maybe Wanda, next to her is Phyllis, Roy's co pilot on the journey home. Nina Hall and me. I had a lovely time with Nina earlier sitting on the porch, and having girl talk.

Our gracious hosts Jerry and Alan. They should be looking exhausted, it's really hard work putting the picnic together and even though they have lots of willing volunteers the clean up is a major chore. Thanks you two for a wonderful day. We didn't even get rained on. I heard from Nina that it really stormed that night, and the power went out the next morning. Your picnic was blessed.
